DAPP Donates to People Affected by Floods
DAPP Malawi has donated 1173 family packages of second hand clothes to people affected by the floods in Malawi through the Department of Disaster Management Affairs in the Ministry of Homeland and Security.
The packages comprise of about 50 pieces of clothes for women, men, children and beddings which will be distributed to families living in camps in some of the affected districts.
Receiving the donation on 28 March 2019 in Blantyre was the Director for DoDMA Harris Kachale who expressed gratitude towards the good cause.
He said the donation will go a long way to provide decent clothing and cheer the victims that have been psychologically affected after losing their homes and property including clothes.
Handing over the donation, the DAPP Malawi Country Director Lisbeth Thomsen said as DAPP Malawi they are responding to the call for help towards the flood victims as they are also concerned about the floods and its effects.
She said DAPP Malawi will organise for more clothes to reach out to more people. The donation is valued at around 12 million Malawi kwacha and expected to benefit around 5000 people.
The packages will be handed over to the Department of Disaster Management 1173 packages for families and 1000 packages for women840,330 people affected according to DodMa and UN in Malawi.
