DAPP Malawi at GIZ Kulima MEIRA Project Review Workshop
Commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and European Union (EU), GIZ is implementing a project known as Kulima MIERA in Salima and Dedza districts.
Through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism (MoITT), the project is working with various implementing Organisations including DAPP Malawi. DAPP Malawi as a business development service provider for GIZ Kulima MIERA project is training 10 Farmer Organizations of which seven are in Salima and three in Dedza districts.
The project targets Smallholder farmer organizations and micro, small or medium sized enterprises (MSMEs) and equips them with knowledge and skills on collective marketing, farmer organization techniques, business training and negotiation skills in the market in order to grow their businesses so that they provide goods and services at a profit.
From the 10th – 11th July, the project organized a two day project review workshop at Crossroads hotel in Lilongwe district for Business Development Service (BDS) providers, Project Managers, Trainer-coaches, UMODZI Consulting members, Government officers (trade officers), private sector officials SUNSEED and NASFAM, as a way of identifying the projects achievements, areas of improvement , challenges and how the trainers can improve in coaching the farmers organization members.
DAPP Malawi’s Business Development Service provider Mr Johnstone Chitupira said the review meeting has taught him how to better handle people from different backgrounds, group mobilization skills and to further develop his passion to help rural farmers .The GIZ Kulima MIERA project commenced in August 2018 and phases out July 2019.
