Junior Primary School Reaping From Benefits Of Play Ground Facilities
Play time is one of the most exciting things children love to do at school. Having a playground at school helps pupils to learn new skills when they play as group and it plays a greater role in their physical health because such outdoor games are part of physical exercises.
But there is another benefit that outdoor playground facilities have brought at Masangano Junior Primary School located at Kalumo village of T/A Kalumo in Ntchisi district.
A young boy Nesiwini Kazula from Mzizi village who is Standard 2 at the school says the playground at his school helps him to enjoy time at school than being at home.
“During break time, we go out to ride see-saw and swings. I love these games” says Nesiwini adding that one of things he misses when staying home is to play these games with friends at school
DAPP Malawi through its project Let Children Stay in School funded by the Roger Federer Foundation introduced a playground at Masangano Junior Primary School with an aim of letting young pupils have exciting games so that they should love coming to school.
Through the project, games like swings, seesaw and castles were introduced at the school using local resources and this intervention makes the kids enjoy learning. With these facilities, the school now has managed to eradicate its perennial problem of school dropouts and low enrollment. During break time and even after school a lot of pupils including girls rush to the playground to play.
Having playground at Masangano Junior Primary School has enabled pupils to live in a perfect environment which make them love to come to school.
