Let Children Stay in School II

Let Children Stay in School II is an extension of Let Children Stay in School project that was implemented in 6 districts of Malawi from 2015 to 2018. The project aims to strengthen the transition between preschool and primary school in the schools connected to the four DAPP Teacher Training Colleges.

Through close interaction between community members, parents, teachers and DAPP Project staff, the project aim to create conducive learning environment for pre-school as well as standard one and two learners. Activities in the project include; in-service teacher trainings for lower class teachers (standard 1 to 3), Saturday

Training Sessions at school level School exchange visits for standard one and two teachers together with the care givers from Community Based Child Care Centres (CBCCs), as well as planning and review meetings with school stake holders. The project is being implemented in 40 primary schools around DAPP Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) of Mzimba, Dowa, Amalika and Chilangoma.

The project is targeting to train 150 teachers for standard one and two, orienting 320 student teachers and constructing playgrounds among others to ensure learners remain in school. The project will run for 2 years from January 2019 to December 2020.
