Nutrition Chiradzulu and Blantyre
The Support to Nutrition Improvement Component “A” projects in Chiradzulu and Blantyre Districts aimed to contribute to overall reduction of child stunting, maternal and child anaemia in Malawi. The project enhanced and scaled up maternal and child nutrition service delivery at community level in Chiradzulu district. The project also strengthened existing local development committees that worked at back-stopping on all nutrition, child and maternal health activities at community level.
Specifically the project intended to: Reduce malnutrition amongst infants and children, Reduce child stunting and reduce child and maternal anaemia among poor rural communities in the country.
The first funding cycle of the project started in February 2014 and ended in 2016, but the project was extended with 18 months beginning from March 2016 to August, 2017. The project in Chiradzulu was implemented in 6 Traditional Authorities targeting 310,000 people and; 4 Traditional Authorities in Blantyre targeting 200,000 people
